At Stonebridge, we’re proud to support Time to Talk Day 2025, a nationwide initiative dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health conversations.
As a signatory of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC), we are committed to fostering a supportive environment for our network of valued advisers, employees, and the wider industry. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we encourage open conversations to ensure that no one feels alone in their struggles.
A unique industry with unique pressures
The mortgage industry operates in a particularly high-stress environment. Many of life’s most challenging experiences—divorce, bereavement, moving house, and financial pressures—are the very triggers that bring individuals to seek mortgage and financial advice. These emotionally charged situations don’t just affect the customers but also impact the professionals facilitating their financial solutions.
A recent survey within our industry confirmed that mental health burdens are increasingly prevalent, with many professionals reporting disrupted sleep patterns and heightened stress levels. Alarmingly, feedback suggests that current workplace support is not sufficient to address these concerns.
Our commitment to employee wellbeing
At Stonebridge, we recognise that mental health must be prioritised. We’ve taken proactive steps to ensure our employees have access to a wide range of resources, including:
- A dedicated online Mental Health Hub providing guidance and support.
- A free counselling service to help individuals navigate personal and professional challenges.
- An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offering confidential advice and wellbeing support.
By offering these resources, we aim to create a culture where discussing mental health is encouraged, and employees feel empowered to seek help when needed.
Join the conversation
Time to Talk Day, Thursday 6th February, is a powerful reminder that simply talking can make a difference.
We encourage everyone—whether you’re a broker, colleague, lender, or administrator—to take a moment to check in on a colleague, share experiences, and normalise conversations around mental well-being.
Let’s work together to ensure that mental health support is a priority in our industry, not just on Time to Talk Day, but every day.
